New Project

While snowbound yesterday, I decided to try my hand at making a junk jewelry tree. I've had the materials for a long time and was going to take a class with a lady this past summer, but we were never able to coordinate. Anyway.... I didn't get far because I kept burning my damned fingers with the hot glue gun, but this is the tree so far. I hope I'll figure out a way to continue without burning the crap out of myself. Any suggestions are welcome....

Snow Globe

We were part of the HUGE snow storm that hit the mid-Atlantic yesterday. Took lots of photos that can be seen on my flickr if you are interested. This is one of my favorite shots of the day. What a massive storm. It's been a lot of years since we got hit the badly. Finally topped out late last night at about 19 inches. Phew!

Westminster Sky

Some of you may know that I live with my head in the clouds. Literally. I LOOOOOOOVE all things weather. I am obsessed with it all. It fascinates the absolute heck outta me. If you ever lived with me... even for just a little while, you can certainly know this about me.

I am the one standing with my nose out the front door during a terrific storm.
I'm the one romping around outside in the eye of the typhoon or zooming down to the docks to watch all the ships turn themselves into the wind away from the piers while everyone else is boarding up glass windows.
I'm the one with the bloody weather channel on during hurricane season.
I'm the one who WANTS to see the aftermath of weather-induced destruction just so I can know first hand what can actually happen.

Now, in my *mature* years (ha!) I am also a trained weather spotter for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). I am currently waiting to take a couple advanced level classes with Skywarn -- the layman's organization that trains us and teaches us how to identify particular weather conditions. So.... having said that so you recognize what kind of fanatic I am.... allow me to show you the photographs I took this afternoon right here in Westminster, Maryland. Now, THIS is weather!!!
(oh and, yes.... my blog is snowing ;)

Christmas Balls!

These are a few of the Christmas balls I have made. Learned the style from Alisa Burke in her Haute Holiday class! I'm LOVING these things!!! Can you say obsessed? I am making enough to make our Christmas tree full of them this year with no other ornaments. These and little white lights. COOL!
